Somsidang Officially Launches 'SOMPICK' to Solve Creators' Material Concerns at Once! Supporting Creative Activities Through Digital Transformation
Somsidang, the operator of a hobby and leisure platform, has taken an innovative step for creators. By officially launching 'SOMPICK,' an online wholesale platform for raw materials and sub-materials, it announced its ambition to dramatically improve the material purchasing environment for small business owners and creators. It is also noteworthy that it has already completed successful beta tests ahead of its official launch in January 2025.
Until now, creators have faced a double dilemma: either scouring offline markets for cheap materials or having to pay high prices due to small-quantity purchases. This was a barrier to entry for creative activities and a major obstacle to securing price competitiveness. SOMPICK solves these long-standing problems online, all at once. By enabling creators to purchase materials at wholesale prices as much as they need, along with accurate information, it creates an environment where creators can fully concentrate on their artistic endeavors.
SOMPICK's competitiveness is already proven by the official entry of renowned art brands. The participation of prominent brands such as Shinhan Commerce, Schiild, Copic, and Carioca further enhances SOMPICK's reliability. Its strong presence in the art category is thanks to Somsidang's know-how accumulated over more than three years with its DIY kit own brand, 'Somsi Kit'.
Lee Jung-ran, the lead manager of SOMPICK, emphasized, "We will actively support creators by securing competitive prices and a smooth distribution network, and we will continue to provide more powerful services through expanding various categories and attracting partnership brands."
Against the backdrop of the domestic craft market, valued at 5.2426 trillion won, and the projected Asia craft market, estimated at $210 billion, SOMPICK's growth potential is limitless. Jung Myung-won, CEO of Somsidang Company, expressed his determination to "maximize the synergy between Somsidang and SOMPICK to lead the digital transformation of the analog raw material and sub-material market." Ultimately, the plan is to create an environment where creators can solely focus on their creations and to lead both domestic and international markets through technological innovation and distribution network expansion. Attention is drawn to what positive changes the advent of SOMPICK will bring to the creative ecosystem.
