'Shikbom,' an open marketplace for food ingredients that is bringing a breath of fresh air to the foodservice industry, is making waves by dominating non-metropolitan markets with a momentum equal to, or even surpassing, that of the Seoul metropolitan area. According to data released by its operator Marketboro, transaction volume in non-metropolitan areas surged a whopping 3.8 times compared to the same period last year, drawing significant market attention. Since January 2023, when it announced nationwide service expansion, Shikbom has demonstrated overwhelming growth in non-metropolitan areas (excluding the Seoul metropolitan area) until May of this year, with transaction volume soaring 3.8 times and the number of purchasing members surging 3.2 times. Particularly since January 2024, it has consistently recorded an average monthly growth rate of 8%, opening new horizons in the non-metropolitan market. Shikbom's logistics network now extends beyond major cities to include intricate and extensive regions such as Yanggu in Gangwon, Uiryeong and Hadong in Gyeongnam, Bonghwa and Cheongsong in Gyeongbuk, Gokseong and Sinan in Jeonnam, and Geumsan and Cheongyang in Chungnam, establishing itself as a reliable partner for local foodservice businesses. Based on these explosive achievements, Marketboro conducted on-site marketing in Daegu in April and Busan in June, strengthening localized communication. Furthermore, it is expanding exceptional discount benefits, previously limited to the Seoul metropolitan area, nationwide to support all foodservice businesses in experiencing reasonable purchases. Shikbom's secret to success lies in its differentiated strategy of being "customized for the foodservice industry." Not only does it offer an extensive lineup of food ingredients and reasonable price comparisons, but it has also precisely addressed the pain points of foodservice business owners with its innovative delivery service: "direct delivery to restaurant refrigerators before business hours." This is the driving force that has transformed it from merely selling food ingredients into a true business partner that helps foodservice establishments succeed. A Shikbom official stated their ambition: "We will continue to enhance our customized services to completely alleviate the inconveniences faced by foodservice businesses in non-metropolitan areas when purchasing food ingredients online." Meanwhile, Marketboro, leading the digital transformation of food ingredient distribution, is innovating the industry through 'Shikbom,' exclusive to foodservice businesses, and 'Marketbom,' for B2B. It achieved the remarkable record of 10 trillion won in cumulative transaction volume by March 2025 and reaffirmed its growth potential by attracting a large-scale investment of 40.3 billion won from CJ Freshway in 2022.
