Scatter Lab, which is making a splash with its generative AI entertainment platform 'Zeta,' is continuing its rapid growth, achieving profitability for three consecutive quarters from Q4 2024 to Q2 2025. It recently recorded impressive results, with quarterly revenue of 5.2 billion won and an operating profit margin of 17%. Scatter Lab successfully turned its first profit in November of last year, just seven months after the open beta launch of 'Zeta' in April 2024. Since Zeta's launch, it has continued remarkable growth with an average monthly revenue increase of 20%, and an average monthly operating profit increase of 42% since becoming profitable, drawing significant market attention. At the core of this success is 'Zeta,' which allows users to create AI characters they desire and enjoy immersive, hyper-personalized stories as if reading a web novel. It achieved explosive popularity, surpassing 2 million users within a year of its launch and recording 2.3 billion monthly conversations (globally). As of June 2025, it has exceeded 3 million users and 1.1 million monthly active users (MAU), firmly maintaining its position as the number one AI entertainment platform in both Korea and Japan. Scatter Lab's core competitiveness lies in its unique technological internalization. Instead of relying on external large language models, it has vertically integrated all processes, from data construction and model training to serving optimization and app design, based on its self-developed generative AI language model 'Spotlight-1.' This not only reduces operating costs but also accelerates feature upgrades, serving as the secret to achieving both profitability and technological completeness simultaneously. Recently, it has continuously enhanced the user experience by adding interactive elements such as 'Snapshot,' which creates images from conversation scenes, and 'Voice,' which provides the AI character's voice. Scatter Lab expects to continue its positive performance trend in the second half of this year. Beyond the Japanese market, which it successfully entered last year, it plans to further accelerate its expansion into English-speaking overseas markets, with a long-term goal of becoming a global platform with 100 million users. Kim Jong-yoon, CEO of Scatter Lab, emphasized that the company's decade-long technological expertise and deep consideration for human-AI interaction are the foundation of 'Zeta's' success, and he vowed to further enhance the inherent fun of 'AI entertainment.' Furthermore, Scatter Lab is taking the lead in adhering to generative AI ethics and protecting users. In the 'Generative AI Service User Guidelines' announced by the Korea Communications Commission last March, several of Scatter Lab's service operation policies were included as exemplary cases, and in the second half of this year, it plans to provide an even safer user environment through age verification and separation of youth/adult modes.
