The Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) have selected 5 innovative projects through the 2025 MyData Service Support Program, opening new horizons for personal information utilization. Based on the 'right to data portability,' this program aims to expand MyData services that citizens can genuinely experience, and noteworthy achievements are expected this year, following last year's success. This year, in particular, focuses on encouraging the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and medical institutions, concentrating on the medical and telecommunications sectors to develop services that contribute to improving public health and quality of life. The program was open for applications, largely divided into two types. Three projects under the newly introduced 'New MyData Service Development Type' focus on assisting public health management throughout the life cycle, including: ▲a service that manages medical information of the elderly and minors based on guardian access and prevents risk signs, ▲an AI-based personalized health assistant service, and ▲a mental health and medication management service. Up to 500 million KRW will be provided for each project, offering an opportunity for innovative ideas to become a reality. Two projects under the 'Enhancement Type,' which aims to improve the completeness of existing services, were selected: ▲a personalized health management service based on health indicators and ▲a policy recommendation service for citizens and small business owners. The goal is to maximize user convenience by converting existing operational services to the MyData standard data transfer system, with a maximum budget of 200 million KRW allocated per project. In addition to financial support, comprehensive assistance for successful market entry is provided, including consulting for designation as a specialized personal information management institution and promotional support for service launch. Meanwhile, 'On MyData,' a government-wide platform that will serve as the hub for all MyData services, is also embarking on its second phase of construction. While the first phase of construction last year established the foundation for supporting the right to data portability, this second phase will add powerful features to help data subjects manage and utilize their data more easily, including: ▲support for downloading personal information in various formats, ▲provision of personal information storage, ▲연계 with 'Government24 Plus,' and ▲personalized interest information guidance. Lee Jung-ryeol, Secretary-General of the Personal Information Protection Commission, emphasized that these programs "focus on assisting SMEs facing difficulties in service preparation to enter the MyData market and creating an active MyData utilization environment that citizens can experience," pledging continuous support for the expansion of the MyData ecosystem. As such, the PIPC is accelerating the creation of a healthy MyData ecosystem where citizens can proactively utilize their data to improve their quality of life and where innovative services can flourish.
