Amidst the dynamic changes in the global travel market, the Tours & Activities division of online travel agency NolUniverse is drawing attention by recording explosive growth in the first half of 2025. NolUniverse's analysis of its Tours & Activities sales data from January to June shows that transaction volume surged by a remarkable 56.3% compared to the same period last year, and the number of tickets sold increased by 37.1%. This clearly indicates the rapid recovery of overseas travel demand post-pandemic.
In terms of transaction volume share by country and region, Japan overwhelmingly claimed the top spot with 33.5%, solidifying its status as 'nearby Europe'. Europe (12.7%) and Vietnam (12.4%) followed, showcasing their appeal as popular destinations. A key factor driving NolUniverse's growth, in particular, was the surge in the Chinese market. It set an astonishing record with a transaction volume increase of a whopping 1480.4% year-on-year, which is analyzed as a result of the recently implemented visa-free entry policy attracting a large number of Chinese travelers. The explosive increase in transaction volume for China-related products significantly contributed to NolUniverse's overall performance improvement.
Travelers' choices were diverse. Tickets for world-class large theme parks like Hong Kong Disneyland and Universal Studios Singapore continued to dominate the top ranks, proving their enduring popularity. Alongside these, unique products catering to specific tastes, such as tickets for live viewing of the English Premier League (EPL) and entrance tickets to Ba Na Hills in Da Nang, Vietnam, also received widespread favor.
Sales of transportation passes, which have become an essential item for independent travel, also showed remarkable growth. Products facilitating convenient travel between airports and cities, such as Osaka Nankai Rapi:t and Tokyo Skyliner, became bestsellers. Notably, 3.5 out of 10 customers who purchased airline tickets also bought transportation passes, demonstrating a trend towards smart travel preparation. These customers primarily chose transportation passes for the convenience of travel between airports and city centers or accommodations.
Behind these achievements was NolUniverse's continuous expansion of its product lineup. Recently, in addition to running a Tokyo Tower discount promotion, it quickly launched tickets for Japan's new theme park, 'Junggulia,' drawing significant attention. Furthermore, it broadened its product categories by officially launching sales of live viewing tickets for the English Premier League (EPL) and Major League Baseball (MLB) for sports enthusiasts.
Shin Jeong-ho, Vice President of NolUniverse, analyzed, saying, “The strategy of planning and supplying local products to meet customers' diverse needs led to the successful growth of the Tours & Activities division,” and expressed his aspirations, stating, “Going forward, we plan to actively respond to rapidly changing travel trends and strengthen product competitiveness to help customers enjoy richer and more unforgettable travel experiences.”
