AI drone company Nearthlab, led by co-founders Jaehyuk Choi and Youngseok Jung, is celebrating its 10th anniversary and reaching a new turning point. Nearthlab, which has solidified its unique position in the wind turbine safety inspection market with its AI autonomous flight technology, is actively expanding its business into the defense and security sectors starting in 2024, leading the future of the K-drone industry.
CEO Jaehyuk Choi presented a strong vision, stating, "If the past 10 years were a time when we proved our value through technology, the next 10 years will be about setting new standards for the global defense, security, and safety industries with AI and drone technology."
2025 is expected to be a significant leap forward for Nearthlab. The company has significantly strengthened its business capabilities by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Red Cat Holdings to enter the U.S. defense market and by recruiting Donghyun Kim, former CEO of Moca System, as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). The swarm attack drone 'XAiDEN,' unveiled at DSK 2025, demonstrates innovation in AI autonomous flight drone defense systems and is rapidly expanding global demonstrations and export opportunities in regions such as the United States, South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
Established in 2015, Nearthlab entered the wind turbine inspection market in 2017. Its self-developed 'Nearthwind Pro' has been adopted as an official solution by global companies like Siemens Gamesa and GE, supplying its technology to over 30 countries. 'Nearthwind Mobile,' a mobile app-based solution that won a CES Innovation Award in 2022, pioneered the commercial drone autonomous inspection market.
From 2023, Nearthlab internalized its hardware capabilities to meet on-site demands. In 2024, the company successively unveiled the compact AI drone 'AiDEN,' the high-speed interceptor drone 'KAiDEN,' and a drone station. The drone station won a CES 2025 Best of Innovation Award, and KAiDEN received a 2025 Edison Award, internationally proving Nearthlab's unique technological prowess and innovativeness.
Based on its complete autonomous drone technology, spanning from software to hardware, Nearthlab is currently solidifying its position in the global drone industry by securing defense contracts and conducting multiple demonstration projects concurrently in regions such as the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
CEO Jaehyuk Choi emphasized, "Nearthlab has grown amidst global competition, elevating the status of Korea's drone industry. Now, we will fully realize technology-driven global leadership in the expanded domains of defense and security."
