Naver and Hyundai Motor Group have joined hands, officially entering the in-vehicle artificial intelligence (AI) service market. On the 28th, at Hyundai Motor Group's developer conference ‘Pleos25’, the two companies announced their plan to collaborate on the development of a mobility AI agent, signaling the opening of a new chapter in future driving experiences. This collaboration is part of Naver's strategy for domain-specific specialized AI agents, with Hyundai Motor Group stepping forward as the first key partner in the mobility sector. Naver plans to integrate its strengths, Naver App and Naver Maps, into Hyundai Motor Group's Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs), and implement intelligent in-vehicle services by combining them with its hyperscale AI 'HyperCLOVA X' technology. Lee Jae-hoo, Head of Naver App Division, emphasized that the combination of Hyundai Motor Group's Pleos OS and Gleo AI with HyperCLOVA X will accurately understand the driver's intent and provide personalized services. Practical use cases were enough to garner high expectations. When a driver says, "Give me a briefing for my commute," the HyperCLOVA X-based voice assistant system automatically sets the company as the destination and starts navigation. At the same time, it briefs personalized information such as weather, news, and schedule via the Naver App. Furthermore, all processes from voice search, restaurant reservations, menu ordering, to payment can be handled in a one-stop manner through the in-vehicle AI agent. This foreshadows a comprehensive, life-integrated AI assistant role, beyond simple voice recognition services. Naver set up a separate booth within the ‘Pleos25’ event venue, allowing participants to directly experience these innovative mobility AI agent services, and received significant attention. Naver, now under the second term of CEO Choi Soo-yeon, is actively embedding AI into existing services like search and commerce under its 'on Service AI' strategy, as well as expanding AI application areas through external partnerships, such as its collaboration with Seoul National University Hospital in the medical field. This collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group will be a significant milestone for Naver's AI technology, extending deeply into the mobility sector, and is expected to create powerful synergies that will fundamentally transform our way of movement.
