## Leading the Innovation in Children's Reading: Spiderlab's 'Our Home is a Library' Exceeds 3 Million Cumulative Rentals in 5 Years! The 'Our Home is a Library' service, which is injecting new life into children's reading culture, is gaining attention with its explosive growth. This non-face-to-face children's book rental service, operated by Spiderlab, has surpassed 3 million cumulative book rentals in just 5 years since its launch, with annual rentals alone reaching an impressive 1.2 million books. This is a remarkable figure, exceeding the 900,000 annual borrowings of the Yongin Suji Library, the most active public library nationwide. 'Our Home is a Library' has established itself as an 'indispensable' service among parents of kindergarten and elementary school students, thanks to its innovative system that directly delivers books consigned by members to families in need and even supports returns. The convenience of easily ordering books via mobile phone, receiving desired books at home, and returning them from home is cited as its biggest strength. The popularity of this service isn't just due to its convenience. It systematically curates and provides essential reading lists by age and subject, based on recommended elementary school books and years of accumulated member review data. This effectively offers customized reading guides to parents who are unsure which books to choose for their children. Furthermore, the reasonable rental fees, which allow borrowing 8 to 10 books for the cost of purchasing just one, significantly help household finances. In fact, over the past five years, 52,413 households nationwide have used this service, saving approximately 30 billion won in new book purchase costs. Won Yong-jun, CEO of Spiderlab, stated, "The convenience of easily ordering books via mobile phone and borrowing them at home has created Korea's leading book-sharing platform, boasting 600,000 consigned books and 1.2 million annual rentals." He further expressed his ambition, "We will evolve into a service sought after by all book lovers, offering a rich book-sharing experience that encompasses not only popular new releases and bestsellers but also out-of-print rare books." Established in May 2019 by CEO Won Yong-jun, who previously served as CFO of Korea Exchange and DoubleU Games, Spiderlab has already received enthusiastic calls from venture capitalists. It secured 1 billion won in investment from Kakao Ventures in 2020 and another 1 billion won from Smart Study Ventures in 2022. In 2023, Kyobo Book Centre made a strategic investment of approximately 2.5 billion won, bringing the total cumulative investment to 5 billion won. This clearly demonstrates the potential and growth prospects of the 'Our Home is a Library' service.
