Motif Technologies' 'Motif 12.7B' Crowned #1 in Domestic LLM Performance! Global Attention with Efficiency and Innovation
The large language model (LLM) 'Motif 12.7B', developed by AI startup Motif Technologies, is achieving innovative results and bringing a fresh breeze to the domestic AI scene. According to the latest 'AAII' report from global AI evaluation agency 'Artificial Analysis', 'Motif 12.7B' not only scored the highest among models of its class but also proudly took the #1 spot, surpassing larger-parameter domestic leading models such as LG AI Research's 'EXAONE 4.0 (32B)' and Upstage's 'Solar Pro2 (31B)'. Furthermore, this model received impressive evaluations even when compared to global large models like GPT-5.1 or Mistral Large 3 (675B), being designated as one of the AI models to watch in 2025. Analysis specifically points out its excellent strengths in mathematical reasoning and agent capabilities.
These remarkable achievements are even more impressive given that 'Motif 12.7B' was developed 'from scratch' and achieved high performance with relatively modest resources: a 400-GPU setup and 5.5T (tera) tokens, despite being a mid-sized 12.7B model. The secret lies in Motif Technologies' proprietary technologies: 'Grouped Differential Attention' and the 'Muon Optimizer Parallelization Algorithm'. Grouped Differential Attention mitigates hallucination and maximizes inference performance, while Muon Optimizer Parallelization dramatically improves training efficiency by resolving bottlenecks in multi-node distributed environments, clearly showcasing Motif Technologies' technological prowess.
'Motif 12.7B', open-sourced last November, is already garnering significant interest from the AI developer community. Motif Technologies, established in February this year as a subsidiary of AI infrastructure solution company Moreh, is creating synergy by combining Moreh's robust infrastructure capabilities with its own model architecture technology. Following the release of an image generation model, a video generation model is expected to be open-sourced by the end of the year, contributing to the expansion of the AI ecosystem.
Lim Jeong-hwan, CEO of Motif Technologies, expressed his ambition, stating, "Based on our unique LLM development technology, we will continuously introduce innovative models that possess both efficiency and performance in the global open-source competition." This statement foreshadows Motif Technologies' establishment as a significant player in the global AI market, beyond just the domestic one.
