Makinarocks Wins ADD AI Platform Construction Project

A significant step has been taken to innovate the security and efficiency of South Korea's defense artificial intelligence (AI) weapon systems. MakinaRocks, a leading industrial AI specialized company, has been finally selected as the contractor for the Agency for Defense Development (ADD)'s approximately 2 billion won project, 'Establishment of MLSecOps Environment for Defense AI Weapon Systems,' emerging as a key player in the defense AI sector. In the rapidly changing AI technology trends, the utilization of open-source software (OSS) and external libraries is not an option but a necessity. However, due to the nature of the defense sector, securing both security stability and development convenience simultaneously has been considered a difficult challenge. This project aims to establish an 'AI platform-based MLSecOps environment' as its core objective to solve precisely these challenges. MLSecOps is a concept that integrates security (Sec) into machine learning (ML) development and operations, essential for ensuring the reliability and safety of defense AI systems. MakinaRocks' proprietary AI platform, 'Runway (MakinaRocks Runway),' was entrusted with this crucial task due to its overwhelming technological prowess. Runway achieved the highest score in a rigorous technical evaluation, was selected as the preferred bidder last month, and was finally confirmed as the project contractor on the 12th of this month, officially recognizing its capabilities. Runway is a system that provides integrated support for the entire process from AI model development to training, deployment, and operation, standing shoulder to shoulder with Palantir's AIP, AWS SageMaker, and Google Vertex AI in the global market. Notably, Runway was the only Korean company to be listed in the 'AI Development Platform' sector of CB Insights' 'Machine Learning Operations Market Map' published in 2024, proving its global competitiveness alongside world-renowned companies such as Databricks, Dataiku, Scale AI, and Hugging Face. Based on Runway, MakinaRocks plans to establish a stable and scalable AI development and operation system optimized for the defense sector. Key features will include AI data collection, refinement, and version management; automated model experimentation and result tracking; pre-deployment environment setup and performance monitoring; periodic retraining and improvement; and, most importantly, the implementation of CI/CD and OSS security systems. These features will play a decisive role in maximizing the reliability and efficiency of defense AI weapon systems. Runway offers comprehensive functionalities including data integration, multi-model management, MLOps (model operations), LLMOps (large language model operations), and AgentOps (agent operations), and has already proven its value by being adopted by leading domestic institutions and companies such as Hyundai Motor Company, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Agency for Defense Development, Korea Water Resources Corporation, and Korea Insurance Development Institute. This collaboration with the Agency for Defense Development is expected to be a significant turning point for MakinaRocks, solidifying its position as a key technology company contributing to national security beyond the domestic AI platform market.
