In the rapidly changing digital era, the alienation of the senior generation is no longer an unfamiliar sight. But here, there is a young startup team that is bridging that gap with warm hearts and innovative ideas. Rodylab (CEO Kim Min-seo, Kang Se-yeong, and 3 others), a member of Gachon University's startup club Enactus, is the protagonist. We turn our attention to Rodylab's steps as they open their official webpage for their senior-tailored digital education service and begin to expand their services in earnest.
Rodylab goes beyond simple education, positioning itself as a 'visiting customized digital companion'. Centered in Seongnam City, university student instructors directly visit seniors' homes or centers to teach essential digital skills for daily life, such as smartphone basics, KakaoTalk, maps, and online reservations, in 1:1 or 1:3 settings tailored to their level. In particular, repetitive learning using self-developed workbooks greatly helps improve seniors' memory, providing an optimized learning environment for those who struggle with using complex digital devices.
The results are surprising. Rodylab, which has provided education to about 50 seniors at places like Sanseong Welfare Center and Jungwon Markview Senior Center since March 2025, achieved a remarkable feat: it improved seniors' digital literacy scale by an average of 2.5 levels and their digital information capability by an astonishing 250% with just MVP (Minimum Viable Product) education. Service satisfaction was also high at 4.8 out of 5 points, with participating seniors expressing satisfaction, saying, "Repeating with Rodylab's workbooks helped me remember well." University student instructors also unanimously confirmed the effectiveness of Rodylab's education, stating, "Even seniors who found previous education difficult showed a significant increase in smartphone understanding through Rodylab's classes."
Based on these achievements, Rodylab has also been highly recognized for its growth potential. It has demonstrated its potential by being successively selected for major startup support programs and public contests, including selection as a preliminary startup team by Seongnam Youth Foundation's Startup Iroom, runner-up in Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance's Seed Support Project, and participation in Hana Social Venture University.
Now, Rodylab plans to expand its operational scope beyond Seongnam to the entire Seoul metropolitan area, including Songpa and Gangnam in Seoul, and Yongin and Suwon, further extending its business to a B2G (government and local government outsourced education) model to become a digital companion for even more seniors. Rodylab states, "Beyond simple education, our goal is to create a community where the senior generation is not alienated in the digital society and can live independently and freely." We look forward to their passionate challenge creating a warm wave of digital inclusion in our society.
