The parenting startup 'OurSpot,' which is creating a sensation by powerfully solving the childcare concerns of parents in Mapo-gu, is gaining attention as a new after-school care model. Over 2,000 children are using the service at two branches near Yeomri Elementary School and Hanseo Elementary School, showing high satisfaction.
OurSpot is an integrated service that combines a child's 'pickup-care-space usage' all at once, available for a reasonable monthly subscription price of 49,000 won. For two hours after school in a safe space, children can engage in activities like crafting, reading, and doing homework, productively filling gaps between cram school sessions or comfortably staying until parents return from work. A distance-based pickup service (5,500 won ~ 14,500 won), available only on necessary days, adds flexibility.
OurSpot's subscription model, which dramatically reduces the cost burden that used to reach 500,000 to 1,000,000 won per month when using cram schools and care helpers, is receiving an explosive response from parents. In fact, approximately 20% of parents of lower-grade elementary students in Mapo-gu are paid users, and the monthly re-subscription rate is an impressive over 80%. Not only does it boast an average satisfaction score of 4.8 out of 5, but it has also sparked enthusiastic praise such as "I moved because of OurSpot" and "This service deserves a national award," even coining a new term, 'OurSpot-gwon' (OurSpot Zone).
Amid concerns that childcare gaps are a major cause of low birth rates, OurSpot's differentiated model is recognized for its social value, leading to a flood of collaboration inquiries from large corporations and local governments. OurSpot proposes a 'post-school kids' lifestyle' beyond simple childcare, and in the long term, aims to realize 'One OurSpot per Neighborhood,' with a vision to grow into a key community-based kids' infrastructure.
