Kakao Pay Launches AI-Personalized Payment Benefits

Kakao Pay has officially unveiled the beta version of 'Find My Benefits with AI,' a personalized card/payment benefit recommendation service, as the second lineup of its generative AI service 'Pay-i,' which is based on an sLLM (small-scale Large Language Model). Following last June's 'Manage My Health with AI' service, which utilized health check-up data, 'Pay-i' has now expanded its horizon into users' payment domains. The newly introduced 'Find My Benefits with AI' is an innovative generative AI service that helps users make smart purchases. It meticulously analyzes in real-time the benefit conditions, performance status, and even merchant-specific promotions of various payment methods registered with Kakao Pay, such as credit/debit cards and Kakao Pay Money, to provide optimal solutions. The core of this service is the 'optimal payment method recommendation by store' feature. When a user enters the amount they plan to pay at a specific store, 'Pay-i' immediately compares and analyzes the discount and accumulation benefits for each payment method to present the most advantageous method. For example, if a user inputs “10,000 KRW payment at Store XX,” it provides specific information such as “A 5% discount is expected when using Kakao Pay Good Deal,” and even considers whether each card meets its minimum spending requirements, guiding the user in order of the greatest benefits. Furthermore, by utilizing MyData-based payment information, it can precisely analyze the performance status of owned cards, achievable benefits, and easily overlooked benefits. By learning users' preferred brands and spending patterns, it also suggests card products perfectly suited for individuals. If preferred brands are registered, users can receive instant notifications when relevant discount events or new benefits arise, helping them not miss any benefits with just one click. Kakao Pay plans to deeply analyze monthly spending details and add a 'Spending Report' feature that includes strategies to maximize missed benefits or next month's benefits. A Kakao Pay official stated, “We focused on enabling everyone to easily and conveniently enjoy financial benefits by having AI analyze payment benefit information,” and emphasized that through the operation of the beta version, they will actively incorporate user feedback and expand 'Pay-i''s application scope across users' daily lives and overall finance, ultimately aiming to build an AI financial agent.
