Kakao Entertainment officially launched 'Berriz', a global K-culture fan platform, on March 25th, embarking on a full-scale strategy to target the global fandom market.
Berriz offers next-generation fan community services that encompass all areas of K-culture, ranging from human IPs such as artists and creators to content IPs including webtoons, dramas, movies, and musicals. Kakao Entertainment expressed its ambition, stating, "Like berries, which differ in size and shape but become sweeter the more they gather, we aim to become a playground where K-culture fans worldwide, transcending genres and domains, can communicate and enhance their enjoyment."
The platform's most significant feature is its 'modular' structure, which allows for the selective implementation of designs and services based on the characteristics and needs of each IP and fandom. By integrating various technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), commerce, and live streaming, it provides customized IP communities, and enables changes to the community's configuration as needed, thereby building an optimized communication environment for fans.
Concurrent with the official launch, Starship Entertainment's new girl group KiiiKiii opened its official fan community on Berriz upon their debut. KiiiKiii plans to present unique content through a free communication space, live streaming, VOD services, and individual member profiles (Jiyu, Isom, Sooyi, Haeum, Kiya). Furthermore, in early April, the Kakao Webtoon original drama 'Bunny and the Bros' will open its fan community, and Antenna artist Jung Seung Hwan has already joined as the first participant, actively communicating with fans. A special space for members of Jung Seung Hwan's fan club 'US' has also been provided, fostering a deeper connection with the fans.
Berriz is currently available on web and mobile (Android, iOS) and is expected to spearhead the global expansion of K-culture by supporting translations in 18 languages, including Korean and English, for global fans.
