K-Occult Anime Merch Earns ₩467 Million on Day One

The first official merchandise funding for the occult blockbuster animation 'Toemarok' achieved phenomenal success on Tumblbug. Within just one day of its launch, it surpassed 467 million KRW, exceeding a funding achievement rate of 16,500%. With approximately one month remaining until its conclusion, it is strongly anticipated to break the record for the largest funding scale ever in the animation merchandise sector. 'Toemarok', produced by cultural content company Locus, is based on the bestselling novel of the same name, which has sold over 10 million copies. It depicts the narrative of exorcists with special abilities fighting against evil. Even before the funding began, it demonstrated intense interest by gathering over 4,200 pre-notification subscribers, the largest number in Tumblbug's history. Analysis of participants showed that female backers (87%) constituted an overwhelming majority, with those in their 20s (46%) and 30s (38%) making up the main demographic. The average donation per person was recorded as 118,300 KRW. Various merchandise items gained popularity, including Junho's wooden doll, Park Yoon-gyu's beaded strap keyring and tin case, talisman-shaped paper air fresheners, and fabric posters. Notably, the 'Full Package' sold out its limited quantity of 500 units within 10 minutes of opening, and the wooden doll set, with over 1,300 units funded, is currently achieving the highest performance. Meanwhile, Tumblbug has consistently achieved remarkable results in the content sector. Last year, the 'ISEGYE IDOL: Beyond the Dimension' project recorded a cumulative 8.8 billion KRW, setting a new highest record for domestic crowdfunding, and it continues its successful run in major IP fundings such as the animation 'Full Moon o Sagashite' OST and the game 'Sanabi'.
