Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province has taken an important step towards becoming a hub for the climate tech industry. On the 11th, at Gunsan Saemangeum Convention Center (GSCO), the '2025 SWITCH: Growth Stage' (Growth Track) performance sharing session, hosted by Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province and Jeonbuk Technopark, and organized by Sopung Connect, was successfully held.
This event aimed at innovation in climate tech sectors such as waste battery recycling, material recycling, and environmental pollution reduction. It served as a venue to share the results of Open Innovation Proof-of-Concept (PoC) between leading company SungEel HiTech and five promising startups, and to explore future cooperation and market expansion possibilities. With about 50 participants attending, the event began with a keynote presentation by Choi Kyung-hee, CEO of Sopung Connect, followed by PoC performance presentations from each startup, active networking, a wrap-up talk, and an awards ceremony.
The five startups participating in this year's Growth Track conducted practical technology verification based on SungEel HiTech's on-site demands. Wintec Globis with eco-friendly activated carbon regeneration technology, CoSolus developing battery cathode material extractants, Unbridge with battery full-discharge hardware, Mona with an EIS-based waste battery full-discharge verification solution, and HSE, developing hazardous substance dust collection and air pollution reduction equipment, all demonstrated the on-site applicability of their climate tech solutions through their respective expertise.
Lee Gyu-taek, Director of Jeonbuk Technopark, emphasized, "The SWITCH Growth Track plays a pivotal role in making Jeonbuk a hub for the climate tech industry and actively supports startups' technology verification and market entry." Choi Kyung-hee, CEO of Sopung Connect, also expressed her expectations, stating, "This track is an important process for startups to grow into partners in industrial settings, and we hope the climate tech ecosystem expands sustainably, centered around Jeonbuk."
This performance sharing session is expected to contribute to Jeonbuk leading climate tech innovation, with startups and leading companies coexisting and building a sustainable industrial ecosystem. As part of these efforts, Sopung Connect plans to introduce new climate tech startups through the 'SWITCH: Ground Stage' (New Track) demo day at 'COMEUP 2025' on December 10th.
