The Jeju National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, set to inject new vitality into Jeju's regional startup ecosystem, has officially announced the successful commencement of the '2025 Early Startup Package,' garnering significant anticipation. Through an orientation held in Jeju over two days from March 19th to 20th, 22 selected companies gathered to take their first steps towards a new leap forward.
Jointly organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, this Early Startup Package is a customized growth support program for new companies within three years of their establishment, possessing promising startup items and innovative technologies. In addition to providing commercialization funds, the program focuses on helping promising companies settle into the market and take another leap forward through systematic early startup programs designed for their stable establishment and continuous growth.
After a rigorous evaluation process, the 22 finally selected startup companies officially began their business journey through this orientation. The event, attended by approximately 60 representatives and key executives from each company, provided detailed guidance on project fund execution procedures and future program participation. In particular, a lively networking session unfolded, fostering a foundation for cooperation through mutual introductions among participating companies and enabling the sharing of practical business operation know-how through interaction with senior companies that have already successfully settled in the market. This went beyond mere information transfer, becoming a valuable opportunity for participating companies to inspire each other and create synergy.
The 22 selected companies will receive exceptional support, with commercialization funds of up to 100 million won for approximately nine months until January 2026. In addition, a wide range of support, including professional mentoring and specialized networking programs, will be generously provided to strengthen companies' investment attraction capabilities, explore domestic and international markets, and enhance market competitiveness. This comprehensive support is expected to be a strong driving force, helping companies overcome various difficulties they may face and accelerate their growth.
Park Seol-woo, head of Jeju National University's Startup Support Group, revealed an extraordinary ambition for this project. Park stated, "As this is the third year of the project, we will diligently analyze and reflect on the operational know-how and areas for improvement from the past two years to further elevate the qualitative level of the project." He emphasized, "We will create a period of unsparing support and effort to ensure that the 22 participating companies achieve tangible results and lay a solid foundation for the future." All eyes are now on whether this Early Startup Package by the Jeju National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation will inject new vitality and success stories into the startup ecosystem, not just in Jeju but across South Korea.
