I'mweb has surpassed 1 million cumulative websites opened in 9 years since its service launch, setting a new milestone in the online business ecosystem. The key to this success was significantly lowering the entry barrier for online startups by enabling anyone to easily create a website without coding knowledge.
Now, I'mweb has evolved beyond a simple website builder to become a 'brand builder' that encompasses commerce and marketing solutions, comprehensively supporting the birth and growth of brands. This rapid growth is also evidenced by the number of new sites opened over the past three years. Following 130,000 in 2022 and 150,000 in 2023, this year records 220,000, demonstrating a continuous expansion in demand for establishing an online brand foundation.
The user age demographic is also gradually diversifying. Moving away from the existing focus on those in their 20s and 30s, an increase of 2.4%p for those in their 40s and 1.8%p for those in their 50s compared to the previous year suggests active participation of middle-aged and older individuals in online entrepreneurship. In particular, with the prominent D2C (Direct-to-Consumer) trend of brands seeking to grow by directly communicating with customers beyond reliance on external platforms, the number of I'mweb-based proprietary stores recorded a double-digit increase year-over-year. This reflects a strategic shift among brands aiming to secure customer data directly and pursue proactive growth.
To support this proprietary store-centric brand operation, I'mweb is enhancing its integrated infrastructure by providing core commerce functionalities such as order and payment, as well as KakaoTalk CRM marketing automation features based on customer behavior data as standard. Furthermore, through integration with various external services, it enables the addition of customized features tailored to each brand's characteristics and flexible operation.
Lee Su-mo, CEO of I'mweb, stated, "The fact that 1 million brands have started their own businesses through I'mweb is a clear indicator of an era where creating and growing a brand has become commonplace. Going forward, we will strengthen our role not just as Korea's No. 1 web builder, but as a true 'brand builder' that helps brands grow more freely and sustainably."
