Kim Do-jin, CEO of women's health startup Happy Moonday, once again proved her leadership by receiving a commendation from the Minister of Gender Equality and Family in recognition of her contributions to the innovative development of the femtech industry. At the '2025 Women Entrepreneur Achievement Awards,' hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and organized by the Korea Women Entrepreneurs Association, CEO Kim was highly praised for pioneering the femtech market and demonstrating outstanding management capabilities since Happy Moonday's inception. In her acceptance speech, CEO Kim Do-jin emphasized that femtech is a crucial field that can positively impact socio-economic development beyond promoting women's health, and expressed her aspiration to continue dedicating herself to improving the technological capabilities of products and services for women's health. The neologism 'femtech,' born in 2016 from the combination of 'female' and 'technology,' encompasses all technologies aimed at promoting women's health. Since 2017, Happy Moonday has actively participated in laying the groundwork for the domestic femtech industry as a healthcare service company. Happy Moonday's business model goes beyond simple product manufacturing, combining it with IT services. In particular, its 'personalized menstrual subscription service,' which regularly delivers menstrual products tailored to an individual's menstrual cycle, is based on exclusive patented technology. The self-developed hormone cycle prediction algorithm, developed after being selected as a TIPS-supported company in 2018, is currently the core driving force behind Happy Moonday's menstrual management app, used by over 30% of women in their 20s in Korea. Innovation continues in the product manufacturing sector as well. They have enhanced consumer satisfaction through technological advancements such as improving lint on organic sanitary pads, optimizing absorbent structures, and applying breathable films. Currently, they are expanding exports to overseas markets, including the Middle East and Indonesia, and recently acquired a sanitary pad manufacturing plant as a subsidiary, thus strengthening their production capabilities. CEO Kim Do-jin has already received global recognition for her capabilities, having been selected for Forbes' '30 Under 30 Asia' in 2021 and named to 'Unreasonable Venture' in 2023. This commendation from the Minister further raises expectations for her innovative path and future endeavors.
