Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (GCCEI) drives startup growth, recording a mythical 100% TIPS selection rate!
All eight companies recommended by the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (hereinafter referred to as GCCEI) for the TIPS program have been selected, achieving an unprecedented feat and injecting new vitality into the domestic startup ecosystem. This is another testament to GCCEI's unique capabilities in discovering and fostering companies.
In particular, Episolution, which develops next-generation semiconductor packaging solutions, proudly secured a spot in 'Deep-tech TIPS R&D', which supports up to 1.8 billion won in R&D and commercialization funds, recognizing its potential as a company to lead future core technologies. Along with this, seven companies including Reinventing, PICSAR, Textinum, SentinelDeepActive, The ACE Company, Romantic Robotics, and FromLabs were selected for 'TIPS R&D General Type', which provides up to 800 million won in support, gaining an opportunity to accelerate innovation in their respective fields.
GCCEI's 100% selection rate this time is not a mere coincidence. The center, from immediately after investing in companies, matched dedicated TIPS coordinators and provided unwavering close support, from drafting R&D plans to the entire complex evaluation process. This is the result of a powerful and systematic support system that helps startups successfully navigate the TIPS selection process.
The selected companies will receive more than just financial support but also comprehensive growth support from GCCEI. For example, PICSAR Co., Ltd., which was selected for TIPS in September, was additionally selected for 'Seongnam-type TIPS' operated by GCCEI, securing 50 million won in commercialization funds and maximizing synergy. This means that the center, beyond mere fundraising, provides a practical foundation for the sustainable growth of companies.
As a result of these efforts, GCCEI has produced a total of 45 TIPS companies to date (37 general type, 8 deep-tech), establishing itself as a true cradle for startup growth.
A GCCEI official stated, "We deeply understand the characteristics of deep-tech companies that require enormous time and resources for technological advancement," emphasizing, "We will provide generous investment and customized support to startups with the potential to leapfrog into global unicorn companies." They further added, revealing their aspiration: "We will constantly innovate and strive to become the TIPS operating company that excellent startups most want to work with." GCCEI will continue to be a strong partner for innovative startups and contribute to the development of Korea's startup ecosystem.
