Greph Launches 'Monito+' to Counter Generative AI Cheating, Bolstering Security
To combat cheating in the generative AI era, Grep, which operates the online assessment solution 'Monito,' has introduced 'Monito+,' featuring even stronger security functions. As generative AIs like ChatGPT evolve cheating into invisible forms such as running external programs or utilizing virtual devices, there have been criticisms that existing screen and webcam-centric invigilation alone has limitations. Monito+ adds an 'installable secure exam browser' to Monito's existing AI-based invigilation system, directly controlling the test-taker's device environment. This allows it to automatically detect and immediately block various forms of cheating attempts during the exam, such as running unauthorized programs, connecting external USB/Bluetooth devices, remote control, messenger apps, development IDEs, and using virtual webcams. Furthermore, its voice detection technology captures murmuring, unusual voices, and external sounds, and automatic facial recognition prevents the use of virtual devices or pre-recorded videos, thereby further strengthening the identity verification process. The existing Monito, an AI-based online exam invigilation solution, has already proven its reliability by being widely used by approximately 700 institutions, including Korea's top 5 banks (Shinhan, Hana, Woori Bank, etc.) and top 10 conglomerates, as well as major universities like Kookmin University, Sogang University, and KAIST. The University of Seoul has also confirmed its adoption in 2026. Lim Sung-soo, CEO of Grep, stated, "As we enter the generative AI era, it has become crucial to systematically control cheating that occurs at the device environment and program level." He added, "Monito+ addresses structural issues in the test-taking environment, and we promise continuous technological advancement to enable universities and corporations to operate fair assessment systems." Meanwhile, Grep plans to introduce 'AI Assignment Test' within this year, which analyzes the process of using LLM-based tools, thereby pioneering the AI utilization assessment market, primarily for developer roles.
