The startup ecosystem in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province is buzzing with activity. The Gangwon Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (hereinafter referred to as Gangwon Innovation Center) has provided a total of 100 million won in additional commercialization support funds to 8 promising startups discovered through the '2025 G-Startup Pre-startup Support Program,' helping them soar to new heights.
This support targets companies that were recognized for their outstanding commercialization performance and potential during the mid-term review conducted on July 30th. The companies honored with selection are BCD Tech Co., Ltd. (CEO Ryu Young-hoon), Hyperstar Co., Ltd. (CEO Shin Ui-cheol), PDRV Co., Ltd. (CEO Han Young-jin), HMD Science Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Hae-dong), JJ Works (CEO Kim Mi-sung), and BET Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Ui-do), along with prospective entrepreneurs Jeon Hee-jae and Kim Ji-yeon. These companies and prospective entrepreneurs are garnering expectations as key players who will lead the future of the Gangwon region, based on their innovative ideas and execution capabilities.
The Gangwon Innovation Center shared achievements with the representatives of the selected companies through an agreement ceremony and provided detailed information on future support plans and schedules. At this event, Lee Hae-jung, CEO of Gangwon Innovation Center, emphasized, "This additional support is a key strategy to help startups within the province successfully establish themselves in the market and achieve sustained growth," expressing her commitment to "continue providing full support to ensure that promising startups can develop continuously."
The 'G-Startup Pre-startup Support Program' is a program established by Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and the Gangwon Innovation Center to drive the growth of local startups. It targets prospective entrepreneurs aged 18 to 45 and companies that have been established for less than one year, providing selected companies with diversified benefits such as commercialization funding, professional training, close mentoring, specialized programs, and investment connections. Notably, an incentive system for outstanding startups has been introduced starting this year, providing even stronger support for the commercialization of promising companies.
This additional support from the Gangwon Innovation Center is expected to be a crucial turning point for local startups to strengthen their capabilities and secure market competitiveness. Through this, the Gangwon region is anticipated to establish itself as a dynamic startup hub where innovative ideas become reality and lead to success.
