Korea's AI data platform specialist, Dtonic, is throwing open the doors to the Malaysian smart city market, presenting innovative solutions to Kuala Lumpur's chronic urban parking problems. On the 12th, Dtonic announced the successful launch of the 'Edge AI and Data Hub-based Smart Parking Service Demonstration Project' with Kuala Lumpur City, as part of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's '2025 K-City Network Overseas Demonstration Project'. This marks an important step in showcasing Korea's advanced technological capabilities in Kuala Lumpur, one of the six selected cities worldwide. To address Kuala Lumpur's escalating parking issues, exacerbated by urban population density and increased tourism, Dtonic is introducing real-time parking information provision and parking availability prediction services. Specifically, they plan to build an efficient parking system by applying 'D.Edge', an edge computing technology that instantly analyzes even existing CCTV footage on-site, and 'D.Hub', a data hub construction technology that integrates and standardizes the city's vast data. Using this project as a bridgehead, Dtonic is exploring expansion into various AI data-based businesses within Malaysia. They have already confirmed significant interest from the local market, having discussed cooperation plans with local public institutions and businesses over 10 times. Dtonic has accumulated successful demonstration cases not only through building smart city AI data hubs for dozens of local governments in Korea but also overseas, including the smart integrated control system in Hue City, Vietnam, the ICT-based integrated air quality management system in Mongolia, and the smart parking demonstration project in Santander, Spain. Jeon Yong-ju, CEO of Dtonic, mentioned the high interest in smart city transformation among various Southeast Asian countries and expressed his ambition to accelerate the global expansion of 'K-AI' based on the company's data platform technology and extensive service experience. In response, Mohammad bin Hamin, Director-General of Kuala Lumpur City, also emphasized continuous cooperation for smart city transformation, adding that more in-depth discussions would follow during his visit to Korea in July.
