Laying the Bridgehead for Korean Startups' Entry into Japan! D.CAMP Elevates the Status of the Korean Ecosystem at JR East Event
D.CAMP CEO Park Young-hoon participated as a representative panelist for Korea at 'GATEWAY Tech Takanawa,' a global startup event hosted by JR East, promoting Korea's dynamic startup ecosystem to the world and actively exploring local collaboration opportunities in Japan.
This event was organized to share the vision of 'TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY,' Tokyo's next-generation urban startup hub set for its grand opening in spring 2026, with the global startup community. CEO Park Young-hoon engaged in in-depth discussions with representatives from major Asian innovation institutions, including NUS Enterprise (Singapore) and Deloitte Ventures (Japan), regarding the potential as a global startup hub and methods for international cooperation.
CEO Park elaborated on the development process of the Korean startup ecosystem, based on digital capabilities, government-led funding, and a strong pipeline in deep tech and fintech sectors, as well as the 'government-CVC-private' collaboration model. Furthermore, he introduced D.CAMP's multifaceted activities, including direct and indirect investments in over 4,500 startups, provision of co-working spaces, curated mentoring, and assistance for global market entry, including Japan, garnering significant resonance from panelists and attendees from various countries.
He emphasized the synergy with the Japanese startup ecosystem model, where CVCs lead and the government expands support, asserting the need to discover and expand various models such as collaborations between Japanese conglomerates and promising Korean startups, and market entry linkages.
D.CAMP continues to make consistent efforts to accelerate the stable establishment of Korean startups in the Japanese market and lay the foundation for global growth. In September, 'D.CAMP Startup OI' is scheduled between TBS Innovation Partners, the CVC under Japan's TBS broadcasting company, and Korean entertainment startups. Furthermore, a networking event bringing together Finolab, Japan's fintech startup hub, and Korean fintech startups is slated for November.
