Crowdworks Selected as National AI Data Provider

The Republic of Korea is moving towards the ambitious goal of developing its own AI foundation model. For this significant national project, the government is supporting joint data purchases amounting to 10 billion KRW annually, focusing particularly on securing specialized and niche data, including in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. As a key partner in this national AI development project, AI tech company Crowdworx has been selected as a joint data supplier, drawing attention. Five development teams with top-tier technological capabilities in Korea, including Naver, LG AI Research, NC AI, SK Telecom, and Upstage, are embarking on building their own AI models, and Crowdworx will play a pivotal role in providing the high-quality training data they require. In addition to joint data purchases, the government is providing comprehensive support to these teams, including team-specific dataset construction (2.8 billion KRW) and high-quality broadcast video data (20 billion KRW). Based on its expertise and reliability gained from supplying AI training data on the largest scale in Korea, Crowdworx plans to provide customized data for the development teams' successful model development. Particular anticipation is building for this project due to the supply of exclusive datasets that were previously difficult to secure within Korea. The 'STEM dataset' of high-level specialized knowledge, with legally resolved copyright issues, is essential for enhancing AI's inference and literacy capabilities. Furthermore, other data including domestic books, domestic and international news, and Korean linguistics-related data will be included to expand the depth and breadth of AI models. These data, built directly by Crowdworx or rigorously verified through its proprietary inspection system, boast high accuracy and reliability. Kim Woo-seung, CEO of Crowdworx, emphasized, “The performance of AI models is ultimately determined by data quality,” and expressed his aspiration that “Our data expertise, recognized both domestically and internationally, will significantly contribute to the development of national representative AI models.” Crowdworx's participation, which has contributed to vitalizing the domestic data ecosystem through its 'A1 Data Marketplace' encompassing multimodal data such as text, voice, and images, as well as industry-specific domains, will be a crucial turning point for the Republic of Korea in securing leadership in the global AI competition.
