Cookieplace, a leader in the subculture creative ecosystem, announced the official launch of 'Butlerian', a large-scale anti-AI project aimed at addressing the issue of indiscriminate content distribution caused by generative AI and protecting both creators and consumers. This demonstrates Cookieplace's strong commitment to fostering a healthy and sustainable creative environment. Crepe, a commission brokerage platform operated by Cookieplace, has already been mediating 1:1 customized creative work transactions between clients and creators through a 'secure payment' system, effectively resolving the long-standing problem of non-receipt after prepayment in the existing commission market. Built upon this foundation of trust, the Butlerian project focuses on establishing a system capable of closely monitoring and swiftly responding to creative works traded on the platform that utilize generative AI without the client's agreement. In particular, since its selection for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' TIPS program in 2023, Cookieplace has been accelerating the development of AI learning interference filter technology. This technology focuses on protecting creators' rights by fundamentally preventing creative works registered on the platform from being illicitly used for AI training. In addition to this technological defense, the Butlerian project plans to establish a system for precisely analyzing the metadata of all content uploaded to Crepe to track AI utilization-related code, as well as specific policies. Furthermore, it will establish specialized manuals for professionally investigating and resolving disputes concerning AI usage, and plans to recruit dedicated personnel for effective response. Nam Sun-woo, co-CEO of Cookieplace, stated that the Butlerian project is the result of deep consideration on how generative AI should be understood and handled in the subculture domain, and how a healthy creative ecosystem should be built. Jang Dong-hyun, co-CEO, emphasized that this project goes beyond merely rejecting AI technology; it is an effort to help culture consumers regain initiative and control over generative AI. Cookieplace and Crepe plan to pursue continuous growth by focusing on unique human desires and the value of creation that cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence. Furthermore, Cookieplace plans to proactively develop legal response measures and specific manuals, in cooperation with professional law firms, for creators who provide AI-generated works without the client's agreement. Ultimately, this integrated anti-AI project aims to provide a foundation for both subculture creators and consumers to jointly establish the necessary systems and rules and actively respond in the rapidly changing era of generative AI.
