Korean medical AI company Connective, in collaboration with Burjeel Holdings, a leading healthcare group in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), officially launched an AI-powered orthopedic assessment platform, which received official approval from the Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi, at the '2025 Abu Dhabi Global Health Week'. The platform's achievements were pre-unveiled through a launch event held at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi on April 16.
The launch event was attended by key executives from Burjeel Holdings, including Chairman Shamsheer Vayalil and CEO John Sunil, along with key figures from the Korean government and medical community, including Ryu Je-seung, the Korean Ambassador to the UAE, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the two countries.
Connective CEO Noh Doo-hyun, at the event, presented in detail the core concepts of the company's AI solutions, successful clinical application cases, and the demonstration experiences conducted at local hospitals in Abu Dhabi since the second half of last year.
The products officially approved by the UAE Department of Health are 'CONNEVO KOA', an AI-powered diagnostic support solution for knee osteoarthritis, and 'CONNEVO ALI', a lower limb alignment abnormality analysis solution. Both products have been successfully introduced and are currently in use at Burjeel Hospital Abu Dhabi, and through AI technology, they enhance the diagnostic accuracy for patients with knee osteoarthritis and lower limb alignment abnormalities, significantly contributing to surgical planning, patient consultation, and improvement in treatment adherence.
Through joint research, both organizations have published their findings in leading international academic journals, including a paper on 'AI-based analysis of knee alignment differences between Middle Eastern and East Asian populations,' presenting the necessity and possibility of identifying regional patient characteristics and data-driven personalized diagnostics.
CEO Noh Doo-hyun stated, "Korea is leading innovation in AI-based medical software with its outstanding research capabilities and IT infrastructure, and Burjeel Holdings is the optimal partner to implement this in actual clinical settings," emphasizing continuous joint research plans for global market expansion beyond the Middle East. John Sunil, CEO of Burjeel Holdings, expressed his anticipation, "The introduction of AI technology will strengthen orthopedic care capabilities, and drive medical innovation in the Middle East, including Abu Dhabi."
Connective is rapidly growing, having recently attracted Series A investment totaling 14 billion KRW, and is preparing for KFDA (Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety) approval procedures and market entry into Singapore and Japan. Similar to the Burjeel Holdings case, through collaboration with domestic and international research institutions and technology partners, the company plans to continuously advance its musculoskeletal-focused AI medical solutions.
