Global short-form drama platform Vigloo successfully concluded its 'Vigloo Writer's Room' workshop, a special journey aimed at discovering and nurturing short-form drama writers who are poised to become key players in the future content market, signaling a promising start for securing new intellectual property (IP).
Vigloo, which provides services in 8 languages worldwide and has presented over 220 diverse short-form dramas, each around 2 minutes in length, across genres like romance, thriller, and comedy, is strengthening its in-house production capabilities by releasing its first original series last month.
The Writer's Room, designed with the goal of co-developing Vigloo's original IP, generously shared scriptwriting expertise optimized for real production environments over approximately one month with 12 creators selected through intense script sample evaluations and interviews. The workshop offered practical education, including an understanding of short-form dramas based on market data analysis, learning fundamental structures, as well as item discussions, treatment feedback, and the process of script elaboration. Notably, a special lecture by writer Kumsa, an expert in the Chinese short-form drama market, provided participants with crucial insights into global trends.
Workshop graduates receive extraordinary benefits, including an official Vigloo certificate, the opportunity to launch a Vigloo original, 1:1 script mentoring, and support for exclusive Writer's Room community activities. This promises continuous support that extends beyond mere education to actual creative output.
Participants expressed high satisfaction, stating, "We were able to master the art of crafting intense dialogue and impactful settings within a short timeframe." A Vigloo content representative shared the ambition "to build high-quality short-form drama IP through close collaboration with writers, fostering a growth model where both the platform and creators thrive together."
Meanwhile, Vigloo successfully hosted the '2024 Short-form Drama Battle - University League' for university students nationwide last February, showcasing its full commitment to discovering emerging creators and invigorating the short-form drama industry.
