Beyond Robotics to Commercialize Strawberry Harvesting Robot
Deeptech startup Beyond Robotics has taken a historic step, leading the future of domestic agriculture. It has signed a commercial contract for the use of agricultural harvesting robots with strawberry farms in the Jeonbuk region, achieving the first commercialization of strawberry harvesting robots in Korea. This contract, set to operate for a maximum of six months from December 2025 to May 2026, is expected to significantly contribute to resolving the chronic labor shortage in rural areas and improving productivity. In particular, with a sales contract also being finalized with the Nonsan region in Chungnam, it has signaled a green light for the spread of robot-based smart farms. Beyond Robotics, now in its third year since founding, is an innovative company that develops intelligent agricultural robots by combining 3D vision AI and robotics technology. The company's advanced harvesting robot precisely determines the ripeness, size, deformities, and presence of pests and diseases in strawberries using 3D vision technology. It also boasts astonishing performance. It harvests 14-16 strawberries per minute with 95% accuracy, and the loss rate is less than 1%. After harvesting, it even has an automatic sorting function by fruit size, maximizing work efficiency. With just 4 hours of charging, it can operate continuously for 8 hours, and harvests over 300kg of strawberries in up to 16 hours a day, boasting overwhelming productivity. Furthermore, by automating tray exchange, charging, and even night work, unmanned cyclic operations are possible without human intervention, and it perfectly handles dawn harvesting using the illumination on the robot arm. Beyond Robotics aims for "complete automation where agriculture proceeds without human involvement" and expects to change the paradigm of agriculture. This innovative harvesting robot will be directly demonstrated at the National Gwacheon Science Museum's 'SF Festival', held for five days from October 29, and at the 'Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Science and Technology Fair' at Yangjae aT Center on December 10-11.
