The AI character chat service 'Babychat' is drawing attention from the industry by achieving 1 billion KRW in Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) since its founding, without any external investment. This marks a staggering 100-fold growth from its first monthly revenue of 10 million KRW, and notably, its MRR doubled from 500 million KRW to 1 billion KRW over the past six months. During the same period, Monthly Active Users (MAU) surged from 100,000 to 200,000, and cumulative generated messages skyrocketed from 200 million to 400 million, respectively, proving its explosive growth. Lee Gwan-hyung, CEO of Babychat, emphasized a 'customer-centric' approach as the secret to this success. He explained that the key was in deeply analyzing the vast message data, amounting to 400 million messages, and directly communicating with hundreds of users each month to understand their needs and reflect their feedback. Babychat aims to achieve cumulative revenue of 15 billion KRW this year and is actively exploring global market expansion, leveraging its current growth momentum. Currently, the AI character chatbot market is heating up globally. Related services are gaining significant attention, with Naver Webtoon's 'CharacterChat' surpassing 100 million cumulative conversations and the global service Character.AI being valued at $2.5 billion. Character chatbots are emerging as a major area of interest for domestic and international tech platform companies, forming an expanded economic sphere that goes beyond simple conversations to encompass content consumption, paid subscriptions, and even e-commerce connections. CEO Lee stated his ambition to use the achievement of 1 billion KRW MRR as a new starting point to accelerate global market entry and actively pursue market expansion through collaborations with influential business partners.
