An innovative wind is expected to blow through the global healthcare market. Alchera, a leader in vision AI, has partnered with Stokes Robotics, a U.S. robotics specialist, to bestow the 'eyes' of artificial intelligence upon humanoid robots. Through this collaboration, Stokes Robotics' humanoid robots 'GiGi' and 'Hank' will be equipped with Alchera's powerful facial recognition AI technology, going beyond simple assistive roles to be reborn as smart robots that provide customized care and guidance services.
The area where the synergy between the two companies will shine brightest is the senior healthcare market, a key challenge in an aging society. In nursing homes or senior living facilities in major aging countries like the U.S., these robots will recognize patients' faces in real-time to manage entry and exit, provide personalized guidance, and even perform safety monitoring for potential dangerous situations. Furthermore, in hotels or long-term stay facilities, they are expected to be utilized as smart untact solutions for contactless check-in, guest identity verification, and customized service guidance.
Alchera's technological prowess has already been recognized globally. This is proven by the title of being the only domestic company to pass the International Organization for Standardization's iBeta Face Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) test using a standard RGB camera method. In particular, its 'Liveness' technology, which accurately detects facial spoofing simply by real-time selfie capture, is regarded as a powerful identity verification solution.
Alchera's facial recognition technology is already deeply embedded in our daily lives. Over 70% of the top financial institutions in Korea have adopted Alchera's solutions, and its stability and reliability are recognized in major national public systems such as government building access control, Suneung (CSAT) test-taker photo verification, and Korea Transportation Safety Authority driver authentication.
Hwang Young-kyu, CEO of Alchera, stated, "Integrating facial recognition technology into humanoid robots is a crucial step in accelerating robot intelligence," and emphasized, "The value that robots can provide, especially in the senior healthcare sector, is immense." This collaboration will be an important stepping stone for Alchera to solidify its technological position in the global service robot market and contribute to solving the escalating senior care and security issues.
