AI startup Kernelspace officially launched 'Gridie,' an Excel AI for accounting and finance practitioners, last December. Within one month of its launch, the paid subscription conversion rate among all subscribers reached approximately 10%. Gridie is a service that solves Excel tasks previously done manually, such as complex formula input, repetitive data cleansing, and PDF data conversion, through conversation with generative AI. While existing ERP or expense management solutions focused on data 'storage,' Gridie focused on 'processing' the stored data so it can be used for closing and reporting. The key differentiator is its 'persistent workflow.' When users interact with the AI in their usual work manner, Gridie instantly generates automation code. If this is saved as a workflow, the same task can be repeated with a single click, simply by changing the file. A current accountant using Gridie stated, "It used to take several hours to organize raw data coming in from multiple clients each month, but after implementation, I reuse the workflow and complete the task with one conversation. I am now spending more time on client consultation and review tasks rather than simple organization." Approximately 240 applicants flocked to the practical training session held last December. Currently, strategic partnerships are being discussed with major domestic and international expense management SaaS companies, and B2B adoption is being negotiated with financial outsourcing and accounting service providers. Kernelspace was founded in 2025 by CEO Jung Min-kyu, who served as AI Team Leader at Naver and Channel Corporation, and CBO Park Sang-jung, a 16-year veteran accountant and former Head of Finance at Samjong KPMG and Channel Corporation. CEO Jung Min-kyu stated, "Gridie will be a tool that helps practitioners escape from simple repetitive tasks and focus on more important judgments, thereby increasing both productivity and market value in the AI era."
