Inshorts and Megabox will expand their collaboration in 2026 based on the achievements of 2025, focusing on a high-definition content project based on the 'AI Super Scaler' solution. The AI Super Scaler is Inshorts' proprietary technology for video upscaling optimized for premium content, which realizes 4K upscale quality suited for theatrical viewing environments.
The collaboration between the two companies began last January with the 4K re-release of the domestic animated film 'The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly,' which set a record for the most audience attendance ever for a Korean animation. This was followed by the 'Short Films' project, where six early short films by well-known directors such as Bong Joon-ho and Yeon Sang-ho were restored in 4K, garnering attention in the industry.
Director Yeon Sang-ho recalled when his early short film 'Hell: Two Lives' was released in 4K remaster, saying, “I remember creating the master on a DigiBeta tape with a 720×480 resolution back in 2003. The curiosity about what the work would feel like in 4K was a crucial factor in my decision to release it.”
Inshorts is also achieving success in overseas markets. They upscaled the SD quality of 'Pororo' Season 2 to 4K and supplied restored footage of legendary musicians for the '2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony,' which was broadcast live worldwide via Disney+ in November last year. At the 'Global MediaTech Pitchday 2025' held in Barcelona, Spain, in September, they ranked first among over 500 participating startups.
Inshorts CEO Lee Geon-chang stated, “AI Super Scaler is a video AI solution for content IP and viewers,” and added, “With our unique video processing technology, we will vividly revive the emotion of the original work and contribute to expanding the value of content.”
