A groundbreaking technology that bridges the gap between the complexity of 3D modeling and the realization of a designer's creative intent has emerged from a joint research effort by Professor Hyun Kyung-hoon's team at Hanyang University, Professor Sung Min-hyuk's team at KAIST, and Recon Labs. The core of this technology is its ability to accurately understand even a designer's subtle intentions and automatically generate intricate 3D models from text alone. There is no longer a need to be constrained by complex tools. Simply by entering 'single-seater sofa chair,' the AI understands accumulated designer styles and the context of previous works, and proposes 3D sofa models in countless styles. Users don't stop there; they can freely modify and edit these to match their vision and needs. This grants designers a new level of freedom to turn their imagination into reality. Behind this innovation lies a vast dataset of approximately 200,000 realistic 3D assets and sophisticated automatic classification and tagging technology based on the CLIP model. In particular, the language-based editing feature's accuracy of over 95% and generation stability of over 85% clearly demonstrate the practical value and commercialization potential of this technology. The success of the research stemmed from the synergy of expertise from each institution. Hanyang University and KAIST led the development of language-based 3D object segmentation, generation, and region-specific semantic reasoning technologies, while Recon Labs perfectly handled the establishment of a cloud-based service infrastructure to realize this technology. The developed technology has already been successfully applied to the Recon Labs platform, expanding its global user base, and is being deeply integrated into the core 3D asset creation pipelines of various metaverse platforms. This technology, which will amplify designers' creativity and change the paradigm of 3D content creation, is expected to open new horizons in all imaginable industrial fields, including architecture, product design, and game development.
