APEC: AI Translation Sparks Communication Revolution Beyond Language Barriers

An innovative artificial intelligence (AI) interpretation and translation service will be unveiled at the 2025 APEC First Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM1) in Gyeongju, opening a new chapter in global communication. Flitto, an AI language data specialist company, will provide its self-developed 'Chat Translation Enterprise' solution to facilitate smooth interaction among participants. On the 18th, Flitto CEO Lee Jung-soo personally demonstrated this system to Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor Lee Cheol-woo, proving its excellent performance. This interactive AI interpretation and translation system is installed at the meeting venue, Hwabaek Convention Center (HICO), as well as five major hotels within the Bomun Tourist Complex. It supports up to 37 languages, including Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese, and has significantly enhanced translation accuracy by specially training on APEC-related terminology and unique proper nouns from the Gyeongju region. Through this, approximately 2,000 meeting participants visiting from 21 member economies are expected to communicate freely without language barriers and focus on the meeting. This SOM1, taking place from February 24th to March 9th, serves as an important preparatory stage and a pre-check for the successful hosting of the upcoming APEC Summit.
