MarkVision Achieves 'Overwhelming' Results in AI-Based IP Protection… Over 50 Million Infringement Cases Blocked in 2023
MarkVision, an AI-based intellectual property (IP) protection company, announced on the 25th that it achieved a record performance in blocking counterfeit goods and illegal content throughout 2023, once again proving its leadership in the brand protection sector. MarkVision detected and sanctioned 50,416,809 brand IP infringement cases through its AI solution, 'MarkAI'. This represents a 65.6% surge compared to the previous year, successfully blocking an average of 5,755 violation cases per hour.
Looking at the specific achievements, the number of counterfeit product and unauthorized sales sanctions reached 1.61 million cases, a 65.8% increase from the previous year. Notably, the fashion and accessories category (28.8%) accounted for the largest proportion, followed by beauty products (7.3%), indicating that these are major targets for online counterfeit distribution.
The blocking of illegal content also showed remarkable growth. A total of 48.8 million illegal content items were blocked, marking a 65.4% increase year-on-year. By content type, game software (38%) and webtoons/web novels (34%) topped the list, with movies and TV dramas also accounting for 22%. A MarkVision official explained, "It is analyzed that illegal distribution exploiting the growing global popularity of K-content has significantly increased."
A particularly noteworthy achievement is the impersonation blocking feature introduced last November. It showed immediate effectiveness, detecting 3,479 cases of corporate and celebrity impersonation in just one month since its launch, proving its responsiveness to new types of online threats.
Lee In-seop, CEO of MarkVision, stated, "This is the result of our continuous efforts to protect brand value based on our unique technological prowess." He added, "We will continue to innovate in response to the rapidly changing online environment and set new standards for IP protection."
MarkVision's 'MarkAI' solution utilizes generative AI to continuously monitor over 1,500 marketplaces in 180 countries worldwide, 24 hours a day. Upon detecting a violation, it automatically collects evidence and reports it. Furthermore, it powerfully responds to online IP infringements with advanced technological capabilities, including AI directly conversing with suspicious sellers to secure additional evidence.
